Q. What is the difference between the SG-400, SG-200 and SG-50 gates?

There are two main differentiators, which combine to make three different models of parking gates:
1. The internal motor & mechanism.  The SG-400 is equipped with a brushless DC motor, giving high performance and speed control.  The SG-200 and SG-50 are equipped with an AC motor, giving excellent cost-performance.
2. The case and external design.  The SG-50 is equipped with a lighter case with a smaller footprint, focusing on cost effectiveness, whereas the SG-400 and SG-200 are equipped with a larger footprint and more ergonomic design.

Q. What is the difference between the SG-200 and the SG-50 gates?

The SG-50 is equipped with a lighter case with a smaller footprint, focusing on cost effectiveness, whereas the SG-200 is equipped with a larger footprint and more ergonomic design.  Both use and AC motor, giving excellent cost-performance.

Q. Why don’t I need more power for the SG-400 gate?

The SG-400 gate uses DC technology, therefore drastically reducing the need for high power, even during the initial start of movement of the gate arm.  AC barrier gates typically draw a huge amount of power while the gate arm is accelerating.  The SG-400 gate doesn't.  On top of that, using microprocessor intelligence, the SG-400 gradually increases speed of acceleration (and deceleration), which also reduces the power needed to operate.

Q. How many loops can I control from the SG-400 gate?

The SG-400 gate typically comes equipped with a single- or dual-channel loop detector, depending on what you have ordered.  However, the internal component layout allows for more detectors to be mounted.  We easily accommodate up to 4 loops, by using 2 dual channel loop detectors.  Please make sure you specify how many loops you would like to control from the SG-400 gate when you place an order.

Q. Why does the SG-400 gate open fast and close slow?

The SG-400 opens in one second, allowing very fast traffic in the lane.  You can easily double the throughput of an entrance or exit in your parking facility by using this gate, especially if you process many monthly card holders, and/or are using long range proximity readers.  The gate closes in two seconds, being extra-careful to not hit any object on the way down.

Q. Do you provide loops to connect to the loop detectors?

Yes, we provide basic loop products that can be connected to our gate operators.  However, we don't carry all specialty products.  Contact us for your application, and we will either provide you with the right product, or we will recommend you to buy them from 'National Loop Company', through their distribution channel.  Many of our gates have been installed with the use of loop coils from this company.  For detailed information on their products, go to their website at www.nationalloopcompany.com.

Q. What types of gate arms are supported?

The SG-400 supports three types of gate arms, all 10' long.  It supports a round aluminum arm (almost 3" diameter round), a flat aluminum arm (4.25" height, 1" width), and a folding flat aluminum arm.

A modified version of the SG-400, the SG-400L model supports a 15' gate arm.  In order to accommodate this length, the speed of opening and closing is different from the base model.

The SG-200 supports two types of gate arms, both 10' long.  It supports a flat aluminum arm (4.25" height, 1" width), and a folding flat aluminum arm.

A modified version of the SG-200, the SG-200L model supports a 15' gate arm.  In order to accommodate this length, the speed of opening and closing is different from the base model.

The SG-50 just supports a flat aluminum arm (4.25" height, 1" width).

Q. Do you have remote control products to connect to you gate products?

Yes we do.  Although you could potentially procure and install your own remote control, we also can supply and factory-install a remote control.  Please inform us your requirements in detail, so we can make sure our products fit your needs.

We also have access control products, which can be connected to the gate operators, to provide you a full access control solution.

Q. Can the SG-400 gate be fitted on existing bolts that are from a previous gate?

Yes it probably can.  Of course we don't have a list of ALL older gates, but we supply a fixing mechanism that assumes that there are 4 protruding bolts.  Our fixing brackets will accommodate to the location of the protruding bolts.  In the extreme worst case, you might have to drill a few extra holes in the fixing brackets that we provide.  You will never have to drill extra holes in the actual SG-400 cabinet.

Q. What are the power requirements for the SG-400 gate?

The SG-400 operates with 2A @ 110VAC.

Q. Can the SG-400 gate be installed with a “free open” from a loop detector?

Yes it can.  Please make sure you order the extra loop detector (or order a dual channel detector instead of a single channel one).  Once you have that, you can wire the extra loop to the gate open signal, so that the gate opens automatically when a vehicle approaches the loop.

Q. How do I calculate the length of the cut for a folding arm for the SG-400 gate?

After mounting the barrier gate cabinet, measure the distance between the top of the cabinet and the lowest point on the ceiling.  Add 3.5" to that.  That is the length of the first segment of the folding arm.
